The Luxury Line endows the BMW 5 Series with elegance through its fine design elements of high-gloss chrome and matching wheels. In the interior, highlights such as the exclusive Lines upholstery with contrasting stitching and piping as well as fine-wood decorative surfaces combined with an accent in Pearl-Gloss Chrome generate an especially stylish atmosphere. The instrument panel in artificial leather adds the final precious touch.

THE BMW 530e PLUG-IN HYBRID.

Electrifyingly unconventional.

Think creatively. Move with the times. Two essential concepts for sustainable concepts. The BMW 530e implements both approaches perfectly and remains way ahead of its time. It relies on electrifying driving pleasure and, thanks to the plug-in hybrid drive, looks forward to a bright future.

Vehicle concept.

The BMW 530e combines an electric motor and a 4-cylinder TwinPower Turbo petrol engine to create the highefficiency BMW eDrive plug-in hybrid drive. This enables purely electrical, locally emission-free short-range driving with a dynamic driving performance and – combined with the 4-cylinder petrol engine – long-distance capabilities.

Drive system.

The drive's core components include a 135 kW (184 hp) 4-cylinder petrol engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, a 83 kW (113 hp) electric motor and a high-voltage lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 10.43 kWh. When running on electricity alone, the vehicle has a range of around 62–66 (xDrive: 57–53) km and an electric top speed of 140 km/h.

Intelligent energy management.

Intelligent energy management optimises the hybrid drive's power-efficiency factor by predictively choosing the appropriate drive. For example, available navigation data is used to identify in advance the sections of the route and driving situations that are best suited for the electric motor or for charging the high-voltage battery.

My BMW Remote App.

The My BMW Remote App for plug-in hybrids for iOS and Android shows detailed information on the current status of the BMW 530e – such as the battery charge level and the remaining range. Remote control can be used to schedule charging operations via the weekly timer.

Charging.

The vehicle can be charged from household power sockets with the charging cable included or on the go from public charging stations with a cable available from BMW accessories. The navigation system and BMW Remote App give information about the location and availability of suitable stations. Billing can be carried out via the BMW CHARGE NOW card, for example.

Integral Active Steering.

Integral Active Steering combines steering for the rear wheels with support that varies based on the steering angle on the front axle. At speeds of up to around 60 km/h, the rear wheels turn opposite the front wheels. This minimizes the effort required for steering, resulting in comfortable responsiveness while manoeuv…ring, and it reduces the turning radius and improves the agility of the vehicle.

Driving Experience Control with Adaptive Mode.

The Driving Experience Control offers the driver the choice between the standard COMFORT mode, ECO PRO Mode, geared towards efficiency, and SPORT mode, which enables even more dynamic driving. The new interactive Adaptive Mode function continuously adjusts the adaptive suspension, the steering and the Steptronic transmission to suit the current driving situation.

Active air stream kidney grille.

The Active air stream kidney grille represents the cutting edge of aerodynamic performance. When a cooling airflow is not needed, it electronically closes the radiator grille with its air vents and thereby reduces the amount of air flowing into the engine bay. This optimises both the aerodynamics and consumption rates.

Intelligent lightweight construction.

BMW EfficientLightweight stands for intelligent lightweight construction that contributes significantly to increased driving dynamics and efficiency. Weight reduction is the basis for the best driving dynamics and exemplary efficiency. Weight-optimised materials such as high-tensile steel, aluminium and magnesium are utilised when constructing various components.

Mild hybrid technology*.

The mild hybrid technology* serves to recuperate the kinetic energy during braking and supports the combustion engine during acceleration. This reduces fuel consumption and emissions while giving you a dynamic advantage. The Wi-Fi Hotspot is a way to go online with LTE speed (if available) using the SIM card installed in your vehicle. You and your fellow passengers can surf the Web on up to ten devices.
